Assembly
Prepare cup and ice
Select a clean 20 oz disposable or reusable cup. Fill the cup about three-quarters full with ice cubes (approximately 1 cup). This leaves room for syrup and carbonation while keeping the drink cold.
Add syrup
Measure and pour 2/3 cup (0.667 cups) of soda syrup into the cup over the ice. If using a fountain dispenser with calibrated pour, use the dispenser's setting for a 20 oz cup (typical syrup-to-water ratio ~1:28 by volume).
Add carbonated water
Slowly pour chilled carbonated water into the cup until the total volume reaches 20 oz (about 18 2/3 fl oz of carbonated water in addition to the syrup and ice). Pour gently over the back of a spoon or against the ice to reduce foaming and preserve carbonation.
Mix and adjust
Gently stir once with a straw or stirrer to evenly mix the syrup and carbonated water. Taste and adjust: add a small splash more syrup if the flavor is too weak, or add a little more carbonated water if too sweet.
