Method
Prep
Chill a coupe or rocks glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes, or fill it with ice water while you mix the cocktail.
If using, prepare orange sugar by rubbing a little orange zest with 1–2 tsp granulated sugar; set aside for rimming.
Mixing the Cocktail
Combine Ingredients
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz vanilla vodka, 0.5 oz orange liqueur, 0.5 oz Orangecello, 1 oz fresh orange juice, 1 oz milk or half-and-half, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 0.25 oz heavy cream (if using) and 1 tsp vanilla extract.
Ice and Shake
Add a generous handful of ice (about 4–6 large cubes) to the shaker. Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds until the shaker is very cold and the mixture is well aerated and slightly frothy.
Strain
Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe or rocks glass over fresh ice (if serving on the rocks) or neat for a chilled, smooth presentation.
