Method
Preparing the Pork
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
Season the Pork
In a small bowl, mix together olive oil, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, and thyme. Rub this mixture all over the pork shoulder.
Place in Roasting Pan
Place the seasoned pork shoulder in a roasting pan, fat side up. Pour apple cider vinegar around the pork in the pan.
Roast the Pork
Cover the roasting pan with aluminum foil and roast in the preheated oven for about 4 to 5 hours, or until the pork is tender and easily pulls apart with a fork.
Rest the Pork
Once cooked, remove the pork from the oven and let it rest for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
Preparing the Traditional Sides
Prepare the Green Beans
Trim the ends of the green beans and steam them for 5-7 minutes until they are bright green and tender-crisp. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
