Cocktail

Method

Garnish & Glass Prep

1

Prepare the glass

Chill a martini (coupe) glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail. After chilling, discard ice water if used.

2

Pour the granulated sugar onto a small plate. Run the lemon wedge around the rim of the chilled glass to moisten the edge, then gently dip the rim into the sugar so it adheres evenly. Set the glass aside.

Cocktail

3

Mix the cocktail

Fill a cocktail shaker half to three-quarters full with ice (about 1 cup). Add 2 oz vodka, 2 oz fresh lemonade, 1/2 oz blue curaçao, and 1/2 tsp fresh lemon juice. If your lemonade is not sweet enough, add 1/4 tsp simple syrup.

4

Shake

Seal the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels very cold and the contents are well-chilled (small frost may form).

5

Strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared sugar-rimmed martini glass to remove ice shards. The blue curaçao will tint the drink a pale blue; adjust technique so color is even.

6

Garnish with a single maraschino cherry placed in the glass or skewered on a cocktail pick across the rim. Serve immediately.
