Beer
Method
Beer
Chill beer
Place the bottles of Corona in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, or in an ice-filled cooler for 30–45 minutes, until thoroughly cold (around 38°F / 3–4°C). Cold beer enhances refreshment and helps the lime sit nicely in the neck.
Prepare limes
While the beer chills, wash and dry 6 limes. Cut each lime into 6 wedges (for a total of 36 wedges). Set aside in a small bowl or on a plate so they're ready when bottles are opened.
Optional salt rim
If you like a salted finish: place coarse or sea salt on a small plate. Run a lime wedge around the lip of each opened bottle to moisten it, then gently dip the bottle rim into the salt so some salt adheres. This step is optional and most commonly a light garnish rather than a full salted rim.
Open and garnish
Open each chilled Corona bottle. Immediately insert one lime wedge into the bottle neck (push it in with a slight twist so it sits snugly). If you prepared salt rims, the lime will help transfer a hint of salt and aroma into the beer.
Serve
Arrange bottles on a serving tray or board with extra lime wedges and a small dish of salt if desired. Encourage guests to squeeze their lime gently into the beer before dropping it in for extra brightness. Enjoy immediately while cold.
