Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Add ingredients

In a cocktail shaker add 1.75 oz vodka, 0.75 oz Cocchi Americano, 0.75 oz limoncello and 0.5 oz freshly squeezed lemon juice. If you prefer a slightly sweeter, rounder finish, add 0.25 oz simple syrup.

  3. 3

    Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Seal and shake vigorously for 12–18 seconds, until the shaker is well chilled and slightly frosted on the outside.

  4. 4

    Prepare glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, dump the ice water now. If it was in the freezer, remove it and have it ready.

  5. 5

    Double strain and serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe/Nick & Nora using a Hawthorne and a fine-mesh strainer to remove tiny ice shards and any pulp from the lemon juice.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 6

Express the oils of a lemon twist over the drink by holding the twist over the surface and giving it a quick snap so the oils spray onto the cocktail. Rub the twist lightly around the glass rim and drop it in (or lay a thin lemon wheel on the surface). Serve immediately.
