Classic Negroni Mix

Method

Build & Stir

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place an old-fashioned (rocks) glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice and water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

  2. 2

    Combine spirits

In a mixing glass, add 1 oz London dry gin, 1 oz Campari, and 1 oz Carpano Antica. Use precise jigger measures for balance.

  3. 3

    Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of fresh ice. Stir gently but thoroughly for about 20–30 seconds (15–20 full strokes) until the mixture is well chilled, slightly diluted, and clear along the sides of the mixing glass.

Serve & Garnish

  1. 4

    Prepare glass

Discard the chilling ice/water from the rocks glass and add one large clear ice cube (or several large cubes).

  2. 5

    Strain

Using a julep or Hawthorne strainer, strain the stirred cocktail from the mixing glass into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube.

  3. 6

    Express orange oil

Take an orange peel and hold it over the drink, skin side down. Give it a firm twist to express the oils over the surface, then rub the peel around the rim and drop it into the glass.

  4. 7

    Optional garnish

If desired, add a cocktail cherry on a pick or rest it against the ice. Serve immediately.
