Cucumber Margarita

Method

Cucumber Margarita

1

Prepare the glass

If desired, rub a lime wedge around the rim of a rocks or coupe glass. Dip the rim into coarse salt or Tajín to coat. Set the glass aside in the freezer or on a cool surface while you make the cocktail.

2

Muddle cucumber

Place the 4 cucumber slices into a cocktail shaker or mixing glass. Add the 0.5 oz simple syrup. Use a muddler or the back of a spoon to gently muddle until the cucumber releases its juices and the mixture is fragrant but not pulverized (about 10-15 seconds).

3

Combine spirits and citrus

Add 2 oz Don Julio Blanco Tequila, 0.5 oz triple sec, and 1 oz fresh lime juice to the shaker with the muddled cucumber.

4

Add ice and shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Secure the lid and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until well chilled and the outside of the shaker becomes frosty.

5

Strain

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice using a fine-mesh strainer and the shaker’s strainer to remove cucumber solids. For a lighter presentation, you can serve straight up (without ice) in a chilled coupe.

6

Garnish and serve

Garnish with a cucumber ribbon or slice and a lime wheel on the rim. Serve immediately.
