Bread

Method

Bread

1

Preheat and prepare loaf

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Using a serrated knife, slice the loaf horizontally in half lengthwise. Place both halves, cut side up, on a baking sheet lined with foil or parchment for easier cleanup.

Garlic butter

2

Combine softened butter, minced garlic, chopped parsley, lemon juice (if using), salt, and black pepper in a small bowl. Mix until smooth and evenly combined. Taste and adjust seasoning.

3

Spread the garlic butter evenly over the cut sides of both bread halves, leaving a little edge if you prefer a crisper crust.

Cheese mixture

4

In a separate bowl, stir together the grated Parmesan, shredded mozzarella, softened cream cheese, Italian seasoning, and red pepper flakes (if using). Work the cream cheese into the grated cheeses until you have a spreadable, slightly creamy mixture.

5

Spoon and spread the cheese mixture over the garlic-buttered halves, distributing it evenly. For extra cheesiness, press some cheese into the butter layer so it adheres well.

Finish

6

Drizzle the olive oil lightly over the top of the cheese to help browning and brush any exposed crust with a little butter if desired.

7

Bake in the preheated oven for 12–15 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbling. For a golden-brown top, switch oven to broil for 1–2 minutes—watch closely to prevent burning.

8

Remove from oven and let rest 2 minutes. Sprinkle with extra chopped parsley, slice into serving pieces, and serve warm.
