Method
Preparing the Protein Filling
Shredded Chicken or Beef
If using raw chicken or beef, cook the meat first. For chicken, boil until fully cooked and then shred. For beef, simmer with taco seasoning until tender and shred.
Mix with Taco Seasoning
In a bowl, combine the shredded chicken or beef with taco seasoning. Mix well to ensure the meat is evenly coated.
Preparing the Taco Shells
Crispy Shells
Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Place crispy taco shells on a baking sheet and bake for about 5-7 minutes until warm and slightly golden.
Soft Shells
Warm soft flour tortillas in a skillet over medium heat for about 30 seconds on each side until pliable.
Assembling the Tacos
Fill the Shells
Take a taco shell (crispy or soft) and fill it with about 1/4 cup of the seasoned shredded chicken or beef.
Add Toppings
Top the meat with shredded lettuce, diced tomatoes, and shredded cheddar cheese. Add a dollop of sour cream if desired.
