Marinade

Method

Marinade Preparation

  1. 1

    Combine Marinade Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the olive oil, lime juice, soy sauce, minced garlic, chopped cilantro, ground cumin, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until all ingredients are fully blended.

  2. 2

    Marinate the Steak

Place the flank or skirt steak in a large resealable plastic bag or a shallow dish. Pour the marinade over the steak, ensuring it is well coated. Seal the bag or cover the dish and refrigerate for at least 1 hour, or up to 24 hours for maximum flavor.

Grilling the Steak

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill

Preheat your grill to high heat, around 450-500°F (232-260°C).

  2. 4

    Grill the Steak

Remove the steak from the marinade and let any excess marinade drip off. Place the steak on the hot grill. Grill for about 4-6 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness is reached.

  3. 5

    Rest the Steak

Once cooked, remove the steak from the grill and let it rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute.

  4. 6

    Slice and Serve

Slice the steak against the grain into thin strips. Serve immediately with your choice of sides and toppings.
