Cocktail (In a Can)
Method
Cocktail (In a Can)
Prepare the can or serving can
If you plan to serve the cocktail directly in a can, chill an empty clean can in the freezer for 10–15 minutes. If you prefer a glass, chill a tall can-style glass. Optionally, rub a lime wedge around the rim and dip into salt or superfine sugar to coat (about 1/2 tablespoon).
Mix base spirits and juices
In a cocktail shaker, add 2 oz light rum, 1 oz white tequila, 0.5 oz blue curaçao, 0.75 oz fresh lime juice, 1 oz pineapple juice, and 0.5 oz simple syrup. Add ice (6 oz crushed or cubed).
Shake
Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the outside of the shaker feels cold and frosty. This chills and lightly dilutes the mixture.
Strain into can
If using an empty chilled can or a chilled tall can-style glass, fill it with fresh ice (if desired) and double-strain the shaken mix into the can, leaving room for soda (about 2 oz space).
Garnish and serve
Garnish with a lime wheel on the rim and a small pineapple wedge or leaf. Serve immediately with a straw or can tab opened if using a can. Encourage sipping slowly to enjoy the layered citrus and tropical flavors.
