Cocktail Base

Method

Cocktail Base

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or flute in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill.

2

Combine spirits and citrus

In a cocktail shaker, add vodka (1.5 oz), elderflower liqueur (0.75 oz), and fresh lemon juice (0.5 oz).

3

Add ice and shake

Add 4–6 ice cubes to the shaker. Shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until the outside of the shaker is cold and the mixture is well chilled.

Top & Finish

4

Strain into glass

Discard ice or water from the chilled coupe or flute. Double-strain the shaken mixture into the chilled glass to remove ice shards and any pulp.

5

Add bubbles

Top the strained cocktail with prosecco (about 3 oz). Pour gently to preserve carbonation.

6

Finish with soda

Add a splash of club soda (about 1 oz) on top to give a light, refreshing lift.

7

Garnish and serve

Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, rim the glass with the twist if desired, and drop it in or place a thin lemon wheel on the rim. Optionally float an edible flower. Serve immediately.
