Prepare the can

Chill a 12 oz (355 ml) can of cola-style soda until cold. If the beverage is already in a can, keep it unopened until just before serving to preserve carbonation.

Half-fill a highball or tall can-sized glass with ice cubes (about 6-8 cubes) to rapidly chill the drink when poured.

Pour 120 ml chilled plain sparkling water into the glass over the ice.

Add 15 ml fresh lime juice to the glass with the sparkling water.

Stir in 10 ml simple syrup to balance acidity. Stir gently once or twice with a bar spoon to combine.

Top with the canned soda

Open the chilled 12 oz can of cola-style soda and slowly pour it into the glass, allowing it to cascade down the side to preserve as much carbonation as possible. Leave about 1–2 cm of headroom in the glass.

Gently stir once—just enough to integrate the soda with the sparkling water and citrus without flattening it.

Express the orange peel over the drink by holding it skin-side down above the glass and giving it a quick twist to release oils across the surface.

Rub the orange peel rim around the glass, then drop the peel into the drink for aroma.

Garnish with a fresh mint sprig by lightly slapping it between your palms to release fragrance and placing it in the drink.

Serve immediately while cold and fizzy. Optionally include the unopened can on the side for presentation if desired.
