Prepare Coffee Mixture

Brew Coffee
Brew 1 cup of espresso or strong coffee and let it cool. If desired, mix in 2 tablespoons of coffee liqueur for added flavor.
Prepare Mascarpone Mixture

Mix Egg Yolks and Sugar
In a bowl, whisk together 4 egg yolks and 1 tablespoon of granulated sugar until pale and creamy.

Add Mascarpone
Gently fold in 16 ounces of mascarpone cheese to the egg yolk mixture until smooth.

Whip Cream
In a separate bowl, whip 1 cup of heavy cream with 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract until soft peaks form.

Combine Mixtures
Gently fold the whipped cream into the mascarpone mixture until fully combined, being careful not to deflate the cream.
Assemble Tiramisu

Soak Ladyfingers
Dip each ladyfinger briefly in the cooled coffee mixture, ensuring they are soaked but not overly soggy.

Layer Ingredients
In a 9x9-inch dish, create a layer of soaked ladyfingers, followed by half of the mascarpone mixture. Repeat with another layer of soaked ladyfingers and the remaining mascarpone mixture.

Chill
Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight to allow flavors to meld.
Serve

Dust with Cocoa
Before serving, dust the top with 2 tablespoons of cocoa powder and garnish with dark chocolate shavings if desired.
