Method

For the Sandwich

  1. 1

    Prepare the Ingredients

Gather all the ingredients needed for the sandwich: rye bread, pastrami, Swiss cheese, sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing, and butter.

  2. 2

    Assemble the Sandwich

On two slices of rye bread, spread 1 tablespoon of Thousand Island dressing on one side of each slice. Layer each slice with 4 ounces of pastrami, 2 slices of Swiss cheese, and 1/2 cup of sauerkraut. Top with the remaining slices of rye bread, dressing side down.

  3. 3

    Grill the Sandwich

In a skillet, melt 1 tablespoon of butter over medium heat. Place the assembled sandwiches in the skillet and grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until the bread is golden brown and the cheese has melted. Add more butter as needed for grilling.

For the Home Fries or French Fries

  1. 4

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the potatoes. Cut them into small cubes or wedges, depending on your preference for home fries or French fries.

  2. 5

    Cook the Potatoes

In a large skillet, heat 2 tablespoons of olive oil over medium-high heat. Add the potato cubes and season with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the potatoes are golden brown and crispy.
