Method

Prepare Glass

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a coupe or martini glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail to chill the glass.

Mixing

  1. 2

Add 2 oz vodka, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.5 oz white crème de cacao, 0.5 oz honey syrup, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, and 2 dashes of orange bitters into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker.

  2. 3

Fill the mixing glass/shaker with cubed ice (about 1 cup). If using a shaker, cap it; if using a mixing glass, use a bar spoon and stir. Stir (or shake) for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted. Stirring yields a silkier texture; shaking yields a lighter, slightly frothy body due to aeration.

  3. 4

If using edible silver dust: place a very small pinch (tap it out of the lid) into the chilled serving glass now, so the shimmer sits in the bowl when you pour. Swirl gently to distribute without creating clumps.

Strain & Serve

  1. 5

Discard ice/water from the chilled serving glass if used. Double-strain the cocktail into the chilled coupe/martini glass using a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch any small ice shards or citrus pulp.

  2. 6

Garnish: Express a lemon twist over the drink to release oils, run it around the rim, and drop it into the glass. Float one star anise on the surface for aroma and visual drama.

  3. 7

Serve immediately. The edible silver dust will create a subtle shimmering effect across the surface, evoking a 'silent night' sparkle.

Notes & Tips

  1. 8

Honey syrup: make by dissolving equal parts honey and hot water (1:1) and cooling before use. Adjust sweetness to taste. If you prefer a less sweet cocktail, reduce honey syrup to 0.25 oz.

  2. 9

Substitutions: For a completely dry version, omit white crème de cacao and replace honey syrup with 0.25 oz simple syrup, then increase lemon juice to 0.75 oz. For a vegan shimmer, ensure the luster is plant-based and food-grade.

  3. 10

Safety: Use only edible, food-grade luster/silver dust designed for beverages. Do not use cosmetic glitter.
