Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Measure & Combine

Add 2 oz mezcal, 1 oz fresh lime juice, 0.75 oz orange liqueur, and 0.5 oz agave syrup into a cocktail shaker or mixing tin.

  2. 2

    Add Ice & Shake

Fill the shaker with ice (about 6 medium cubes). Cap and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds, until the outside of the shaker feels cold and slightly frosted.

  3. 3

    Prepare Glass

While shaking, run the lime wedge around the rim of your serving glass. Spread 1 tsp coarse or smoked sea salt on a small plate, then gently press the wet rim into the salt to coat. Fill the glass with about 1 cup of fresh ice.

  4. 4

    Strain & Serve

Double-strain the cocktail into the prepared glass over fresh ice (use a Hawthorne strainer and a fine mesh strainer or pour directly if preferred).

  5. 5

    Garnish

Garnish with a thin lime wheel on the rim. Optionally add a small slice of fresh jalapeño on the wheel for a spicy accent.

Notes & Adjustments

  1. 6

If you prefer a sweeter drink, increase agave syrup in 0.25 oz increments. For a more citrus-forward version, increase lime juice to 1.25 oz. Swap orange liqueur brands as desired — Cointreau yields a cleaner orange note; triple sec is typically sweeter.

  2. 7

If you’d like a smokier cocktail, rinse the glass with a few drops of mezcal before filling (pour 0.25 oz into the glass, swirl to coat, discard excess) or use smoked sea salt on the rim.
