Drunken Apple Filling

Method

Preparation

1

Prepare the Drunken Apples

In a saucepan, combine red wine, sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice. Bring to a simmer over medium heat. Add sliced apples and cook for about 15 minutes, or until apples are tender. Remove from heat and let cool.

2

Make the Granola

Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large bowl, combine rolled oats, honey, almond slices, coconut flakes, cinnamon, and salt. Spread mixture on a baking sheet and bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring occasionally, until golden brown. Let cool.

3

Prepare the Maple Dulce de Leche

In a saucepan, combine sweetened condensed milk and maple syrup. Cook over low heat, stirring constantly for about 15-20 minutes until thickened and caramelized.

4

Assemble the Drunken Apple Crisp

In serving bowls, layer the drunken apples, sprinkle with house-made granola, and drizzle with maple dulce de leche. Serve warm.
