Method
Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Smoke Infusion
Soak the wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes. This will help create a good smoke when ignited.
- 2
Mix the Base Ingredients
In a shaker, combine the cane sugar and fresh orange juice. Stir until the sugar is dissolved completely.
- 3
Add the Rum
Pour in the Zaya rum into the shaker with the dissolved sugar and orange juice mixture. Fill the shaker with ice.
Mixing and Serving
- 4
Shake the Mixture
Secure the shaker lid and shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds until well chilled.
- 5
Prepare the Glass
Fill a rocks glass with ice. Strain the mixture from the shaker into the glass over the ice.
- 6
Infuse with Smoke
Using a smoking gun, ignite the soaked wood chips and direct the smoke into the glass for a few seconds. This will give the cocktail a lovely smoky aroma.
- 7
Garnish and Serve
Garnish the cocktail with a cherry and an orange slice on the rim of the glass. Serve immediately and enjoy!
