Method
Preparation
- 1
- 2
Gather and measure whiskey, sweet vermouth, bitters, ice, and garnish so everything is ready.
Mixing
- 3
Add ingredients to mixing glass
Add 2 oz Canadian Club Rye Whiskey, 1 oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes of Angostura bitters into a mixing glass or large pint glass.
- 4
Add ice
Fill the mixing glass about three-quarters full with fresh ice (roughly 1 cup) to properly chill and dilute the cocktail.
- 5
- 6
Prepare glass
If you chilled your serving glass with ice water, dump the ice water out. If you used the freezer, remove the glass and pat dry if needed.
- 7
Garnish & finish
- 8
Express orange oil (optional)
If using an orange peel, hold it over the glass, skin side down, and give it a firm twist to express the oils over the surface of the cocktail. Run the peel around the rim briefly, then discard or drop it in as additional garnish if desired.
- 9
Add cherry
Drop one Luxardo or maraschino cherry into the drink, or skewer and rest it on the rim.
- 10
Serve immediately. Sip and enjoy responsibly.
