Select a rocks glass or Old Fashioned glass. Add one large ice cube to chill the glass.

Prepare glass

Pour 2 tsp Jim Beam Black, 1 tsp crème de cacao, and 1/2 tsp Monin vanilla crème syrup into a mixing glass or small shaker.

Measure spirits and flavoring

Add 3 dashes whiskey barrel-aged bitters. If you prefer a slightly sweeter cocktail, add 1/4 tsp simple syrup. These components balance the chocolate-vanilla notes with the bourbon.

Add bitters and optional sweetness

Fill the mixing glass with ice, then stir gently with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and slightly diluted.

Stir and chill

Strain the chilled mixture into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube. Express an orange twist over the drink (pinch the peel to release oils), then drop the twist into the drink as garnish.

Offer the guest their included choice of one glass: sparkling wine (bubbles), Chardonnay, Moscato, or Pinot Noir. Serve the selected wine at the correct temperature: sparkling chilled (~40–45°F / 4–7°C), Moscato lightly chilled (~45–50°F / 7–10°C), Chardonnay slightly chilled (~50–55°F / 10–13°C), Pinot Noir slightly cool (~55–60°F / 13–16°C).

Present the Taste of Kona cocktail alongside the glass of wine or bubbles on a small tray or with a coaster, noting the complement of the cocktail's chocolate-vanilla and barrel-bitters profile with the selected wine.
