Cocktail

Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Chill glass

Place a martini or coupe glass in the freezer for 5–10 minutes or fill it with ice water while you prepare the cocktail, then discard the ice water before pouring.

  2. 2

    Combine ingredients

In a cocktail shaker, add 6 ice cubes, 2 oz vodka, 1 oz pomegranate juice, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.5 oz simple syrup, and 0.25 oz orange liqueur (if using).

  3. 3

    Shake

Secure the shaker and shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch and the mixture is well chilled and slightly frothy.

  4. 4

    Double-strain and serve

Discard ice from the chilled glass. Double-strain the contents of the shaker into the chilled martini or coupe glass using the shaker strainer and a fine mesh strainer to catch small ice shards and pulp for a clean, smooth pour.

Garnish & Finish

  1. 5

Add 1 tsp pomegranate seeds into the center of the cocktail, then express a lemon twist over the surface to release oils and either drop the twist in or perch a lemon wedge on the rim. Serve immediately.
