Method
Prepare Chicken
Marinate the Chicken
In a large bowl, mix buttermilk, hot sauce, salt, black pepper, paprika, garlic powder, and onion powder. Add chicken pieces and coat them well. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.
Prepare Breading
In a separate bowl, combine flour, cornstarch, seasoned salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Mix well.
Fry Chicken
Heat Oil
In a large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Bread and Fry
Remove chicken from marinade and dredge in the breading mixture. Fry the chicken in batches for about 12-15 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Drain on paper towels.
Make Waffles
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
Cook Waffles
Preheat a waffle iron and spray with non-stick spray. Pour the batter into the waffle iron and cook according to the manufacturer's instructions until golden brown.
Prepare Hennessey Sauce (Optional)
Mix Sauce Ingredients
In a small saucepan, combine Hennessey, soy sauce, honey, and sriracha. Heat over medium heat until heated through, stirring occasionally.
Serve
Plate and Enjoy
