Classic Shooter Trio

Quick Party Shots

Method

Classic Shooter Trio

  1. 1

    Cosmopolitan-style shot (easy)

Chill a shot glass in the freezer or fill with ice while you prepare. In a shaker filled with ice combine vodka (3 tbs), triple sec (1 tbs), fresh lime juice (1 tsp) and cranberry juice (2 tbs). Shake vigorously 8–12 seconds until well chilled. Strain into a chilled shot glass. Optional: garnish with a small lime twist or a drop of lime on the rim.

  2. 2

    Tequila sunrise shot (quick)

Pour tequila (3 tbs) into a shot glass. Carefully pour grenadine (1 tsp) down the inside edge so it sinks to the bottom and creates a sunrise effect. Serve with a lime wedge and a pinch of salt on the side for the classic bartender ritual.

Layered / Creamy Shooter

  1. 3

    B-52 style layered shot

Chill a shot glass. Pour Kahlúa (2 tbs) into the glass as the base layer. Using the back of a bar spoon held just above the first layer, slowly pour Baileys (2 tbs) so it floats on top. If using vodka for an extra kick, carefully float 1 tbs over the Baileys. To float: pour over the back of a spoon very slowly. Serve immediately. Note: if you prefer to ignite the top (some bartenders do), do not add vodka and use caution — not recommended for inexperienced servers.

Quick Party Shots

  1. 4

    Blue Hawaiian shooter

Add ice to a cocktail shaker. Combine light or spiced rum (2 tbs), pineapple juice (2 tbs) and blue curaçao (1 tbs). Shake vigorously 8–10 seconds, then strain into a chilled shot glass. Garnish with a tiny pineapple chunk or a mint leaf. For a non-shake quick pour: stir gently in a mixing glass with ice and strain.

  2. 5

    Minty rum shooter (sipper)

Muddle mint leaves (3 each) lightly in the bottom of a shaker to release aroma — do not over-muddle to avoid bitterness. Add rum (2 tbs) and a splash (about 1 tbs) of pineapple juice if you like, plus ice. Shake briefly and double-strain into a shot glass. Garnish with a small mint sprig.

Garnishes & Extras

  1. 6

For rimming: rub a lime wedge around the rim of the shot glass, dip into sugar to rim. Keep garnishes simple: lime wedges are for tequila or citrus-forward shots; cherries fit creamy or sweet shooters. Keep ice on hand for chilling and for use in shakers. Always use chilled glassware when possible to improve texture and mouthfeel.
