Spicy Vodka Bloody Mary (per cocktail)

Method

Spicy Vodka Bloody Mary (per cocktail)

  1. 1

    Prepare the glass

Rub the lemon wedge around the rim of a highball or pint glass. On a small plate combine 1 tsp coarse salt (or celery salt) with 1/4 tsp smoked paprika or ground chili if using. Dip the moistened rim into the salt mixture to coat evenly. Fill the glass with ice and set aside.

  2. 2

    Build the cocktail

In a cocktail shaker or mixing glass filled halfway with ice, combine 2 oz Absolut Spicy Vodka, 4 oz tomato juice, 1/2 oz fresh lemon juice, 3 tsp Worcestershire sauce, 1 tsp prepared horseradish, and 3 dashes hot sauce. Add 1/4 tsp celery salt, a generous grind of black pepper, and 1/8 tsp smoked paprika if using.

  3. 3

    Mix

Stir the mixture briskly with a bar spoon for 20–30 seconds to chill and integrate flavors (stirring preserves texture better than shaking for a Bloody Mary). Taste and adjust: add more hot sauce for heat, more horseradish for bite, or a splash more lemon for brightness.

  4. 4

    Serve

Strain or pour the mixed cocktail over the prepared glass of fresh ice. Garnish with a celery stalk, a lemon wedge on the rim, and, if desired, a pickled green bean or okra on a cocktail pick. Serve immediately.

Garnish & Rim (per cocktail)

  1. 5

If you prefer a spicier rim, increase the ground chili in the salt mixture. Use the lemon wedge both to moisten the rim and to squeeze a few drops into the drink for extra brightness just before serving.
