Smoothie Base

Toppings (optional)

Method

Smoothie Base

  1. 1

    Prepare ingredients

Measure and assemble the frozen açaí puree, frozen banana, frozen mixed berries, almond milk, Greek yogurt, honey (or maple syrup), and ground flaxseed. If using a packet-style frozen açaí, break it into chunks so it blends more easily.

  2. 2

    Blend

Add the almond milk and Greek yogurt to the blender first, then add the frozen açaí, frozen banana, and frozen berries. Add honey and flaxseed. Blend on high for 45–90 seconds, stopping to scrape down the sides as needed, until smooth and thick. If the mixture is too thick to blend, add almond milk 1–2 tablespoons at a time until the blades move freely; aim for a spoonable, slightly thick consistency (like soft-serve) if you plan to top with granola.

  3. 3

    Adjust sweetness & texture

Taste and add more honey or maple syrup to taste (start with another 1/2 tbs if needed). If using protein powder or spinach or chia seeds, add them now and pulse briefly (10–15 seconds) to incorporate without over-thinning the smoothie.

Add-ins & Boosters

  1. 4

If you chose optional add-ins (protein powder, spinach, chia), add them after the base is mostly blended and blend/pulse just until evenly incorporated. Spinach will add nutrients with little flavor change; chia will thicken slightly as it absorbs moisture — if the smoothie gets too thick, thin with 1–2 tbs almond milk.

Toppings & Serve

  1. 5

Pour the smoothie into two bowls (for an açaí bowl) or into two tall glasses (for drinking). If making bowls, smooth the top with the back of a spoon. Arrange toppings: sprinkle granola, add fresh banana slices and fresh berries, and finish with a light drizzle of honey. If serving as a drink, add toppings on top or serve them on the side.

  2. 6

Serve immediately for best texture. Leftover smoothie can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 24 hours but will lose thickness and fresh texture; stir or add a bit of milk and re-blend before serving.
