Sweet Plantains Ingredients

Method

Cooking Directions

1

Prepare the Plantains

Peel the ripe plantains by cutting off both ends, then making a slit down the length of the plantain to remove the skin. Slice the plantains into diagonal pieces about 1 inch thick.

2

Heat the Oil

In a large frying pan, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat until it's hot but not smoking.

3

Fry the Plantains

Carefully add the sliced plantains to the hot oil in a single layer. Fry them for about 2-3 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and caramelized.

4

Add Sugar and Salt

Once the plantains are cooked, sprinkle the brown sugar and salt over them. Gently toss to coat the plantains and allow them to cook for another minute.

5

Serve

Remove the sweet plantains from the pan and place them on a paper towel to drain excess oil. Serve warm as a side dish or dessert.
