This seasonal favorite is perfectly balanced with a touch of sweetness, making it the ideal companion for crisp autumn evenings. Whether you're gathered around a fire or enjoying a cozy night in, this ale brings the warmth and spirit of the season right to your glass.

In a large pot, heat 3 gallons of water to 160°F (71°C). Add the pale malt and crystal malt, stirring to combine. Maintain the temperature for 60 minutes, allowing the grains to steep.

Prepare the Mash

After 60 minutes, sparge with an additional gallon of hot water to rinse the grains, collecting the liquid (wort) in a separate pot.

Sparge

Bring the wort to a boil. Add the bittering hops and boil for 60 minutes. In the last 10 minutes of the boil, add the pumpkin puree, pumpkin spice, and brown sugar. Add the aroma hops at the very end of the boil.

After boiling, cool the wort quickly to about 70°F (21°C) using a wort chiller or an ice bath.

Transfer the cooled wort to a sanitized fermenter. Pitch the yeast and seal with an airlock. Allow fermentation to occur at 68-72°F (20-22°C) for 1-2 weeks.

Fermentation

Once fermentation is complete, bottle the beer using sanitized bottles and caps. Allow the beer to carbonate at room temperature for 1-2 weeks.

Bottling

Chill the bottles, pour into a glass, and enjoy your homemade Shipyard Pumpkin Ale!
