Fit Turkey Wrap

In a large brew kettle, heat the 15 liters of water to approximately 67°C (152°F). Once heated, add the 5 kilograms of malted barley to the kettle, stirring to combine. Maintain this temperature for 60 minutes to allow the sugars to extract from the grains.

Prepare the Mash

After the mash process, sparge (rinse) the grains with an additional 10 liters of hot water to extract any remaining sugars. Collect the wort in a clean fermenter.

Sparging

Bring the collected wort to a boil. Once boiling, add the 100 grams of Cascade hops. Boil for 60 minutes, adding the 50 grams of Centennial hops in the last 15 minutes of the boil.

Boiling

After boiling, cool the wort quickly using a wort chiller or an ice bath to reach a temperature of around 20°C (68°F) before transferring to a fermentation vessel.

Cooling the Wort

Once cooled, pitch the yeast (1 packet of American Ale yeast) into the wort. Seal the fermentation vessel and allow it to ferment for 1-2 weeks at around 20°C (68°F).

Fermentation

After fermentation is complete, dissolve the 150 grams of priming sugar in a small amount of boiling water and add it to the beer. Bottle the beer in sanitized bottles and cap them.

Bottling

Allow the bottled beer to carbonate and condition for 2 weeks at room temperature. After this period, refrigerate and enjoy your homemade Lagunitas IPA.
