Vanilla Shake

Method

Vanilla Shake

  1. 1

    Combine

Add 1 cup whole milk, 2 cups vanilla ice cream, 1 teaspoon vanilla extract and 1 teaspoon granulated sugar to a blender.

  2. 2

    Blend

Blend on medium-high for 20–30 seconds until smooth and slightly thick. If too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons milk and pulse to adjust consistency.

  3. 3

    Serve

Pour into a chilled tall glass. Top with 2 tablespoons whipped cream if desired and serve immediately with a straw.

Cherry Shake

  1. 4

    Prepare cherries

Reserve 2 maraschino cherries for garnish. Chop the remaining 8 cherries roughly and combine them with 2 tablespoons maraschino syrup and 1 teaspoon lemon juice to macerate for 2 minutes.

  2. 5

    Combine

In a blender add 1 cup whole milk, 2 cups vanilla ice cream and the macerated cherry mixture (including syrup).

  3. 6

    Blend

Pulse blender 6–8 times then blend on medium until the cherries are evenly incorporated and the shake is smooth, about 20–30 seconds. If large cherry pieces remain, blend a little longer.

  4. 7

    Serve

Pour into a chilled glass. Top with whipped cream and garnish with the reserved maraschino cherries. Serve immediately.

Chocolate Malt

  1. 8

    Combine dry ingredients

In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons malted milk powder and 1 teaspoon cocoa powder so they distribute evenly.

  2. 9

    Combine in blender

Add 1 cup whole milk, 2 cups chocolate ice cream, the malt/cocoa mixture and 1 tablespoon chocolate syrup to a blender.

  3. 10

    Blend

Blend on medium-high for 20–30 seconds until thick and creamy. If the shake is too thick to blend, add 1–2 tablespoons milk and blend again.

  4. 11

    Finish

Pour into a chilled glass, drizzle a little extra chocolate syrup on top and sprinkle chocolate shavings if using. Serve immediately.

Caramel Shake

  1. 12

    Prep caramel

If using thicker caramel sauce, warm 1 tablespoon in the microwave for 10 seconds to loosen so it blends smoothly; reserve 1 tablespoon for garnish.

  2. 13

    Combine

Add 1 cup whole milk, 2 cups vanilla ice cream and 2 tablespoons caramel sauce to a blender. Add 1/4 teaspoon sea salt if making salted caramel flavor.

  3. 14

    Blend

Blend on medium-high for 20–30 seconds until smooth and velvety. Add 1–2 tablespoons milk if needed to reach desired consistency.

  4. 15

    Serve

Drizzle reserved caramel inside the glass before pouring (optional), then pour the shake in. Top with whipped cream and toasted pecans if desired. Serve immediately.
