Juice Blend

Method

Juice Blend

  1. 1

    Prepare fresh citrus

Roll the oranges and grapefruit on the counter to loosen juices. Cut each fruit in half and juice until you have the amounts specified (about 1 cup orange juice and 1/2 cup grapefruit juice). Strain through a fine mesh sieve if you prefer pulp-free juice.

  2. 2

    Measure store-bought juices

Measure 1 cup cranberry juice, 1/2 cup apple juice, 1/2 cup pineapple juice and 1/2 cup tomato juice into a large measuring cup or pitcher.

  3. 3

    Combine juices

Pour the freshly squeezed orange and grapefruit juices into the pitcher with the other juices. Stir gently to combine, making sure liquids are uniform in color and flavor.

  4. 4

    Adjust balance

Taste the blend. If it’s too tart or bitter (from grapefruit/cranberry), add up to 1 teaspoon simple syrup or honey and stir until dissolved. If the mix needs brightening, add 1 teaspoon fresh lemon or lime juice. Adjust to taste.

  5. 5

    Chill and serve

If serving immediately, fill glasses with ice (about 1/4 to 1/2 cup ice per glass). Pour the mixed juice over ice. Alternatively chill the pitcher in the refrigerator for 30 minutes before serving for a colder, melded flavor. Stir before serving.

  6. 6

    Storage

Store any leftover juice in a covered pitcher or airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours. Stir or shake gently before serving, as natural separation may occur.
