Campari Cocktail (Negroni-style) Ingredients

Tools & Optional Add-ins

Method

Campari Cocktail (Negroni-style) Directions

1

Chill glass

Place the old fashioned glass in the freezer for a few minutes or fill it with ice to chill while you assemble the cocktail.

2

Combine spirits

Add the Campari, gin, and sweet vermouth to a mixing glass or shaker containing plenty of ice (about 3 large cubes).

3

Stir

Using a bar spoon, stir the mixture briskly for about 20–30 seconds (roughly 20–30 full spoon rotations) until well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Prepare glass

Discard the chilling ice from the old fashioned glass if used. Add fresh large ice cube(s) to the glass.

5

Strain

Strain the chilled cocktail into the prepared old fashioned glass over the fresh ice.

6

Garnish

Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down above the glass and giving it a firm squeeze. Rub the peel around the rim, then drop it into the drink as garnish. Optionally add an orange slice on the rim.

7

Serve

Serve immediately. Sip slowly to enjoy Campari’s bitter-sweet herbal profile balanced by gin and sweet vermouth.

Tools & Optional Add-ins Directions

8

If you prefer a sharper, more bitter profile, increase Campari to 1.5 oz and reduce gin to 0.5 oz. For a smoother, slightly sweeter drink, use 1.25 oz sweet vermouth.

9

If you don't have gin or want a lighter version, swap gin for soda water (top with 1–2 oz soda) and serve in a highball glass for a Campari soda variation.
