Cold Brew Concentrate
Nitro Serving (per batch ~1 liter concentrate → ~6 servings)

Equipment & Gas
Method
Cold Brew Concentrate
Combine and steep
Place 1 cup coarsely ground dark-roast coffee in a large jar or pitcher. Add 4 cups cold filtered water and stir to fully saturate grounds. Cover and steep at room temperature or in the refrigerator for 16–20 hours. Longer steeping increases extraction; avoid over 24 hours to prevent excessive bitterness.
Filter
After steeping, strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve lined with cheesecloth or a coffee filter into a clean container. Let it drip without pressing to avoid sediment. If necessary, filter a second time to remove fine particles. You now have cold brew concentrate (~4 cups).
Store
Seal concentrate and refrigerate. Cold brew concentrate will keep 7–10 days refrigerated. For serving, you may dilute concentrate with up to 1 cup cold water (1:4 concentrate-to-water here gives a balanced strength) depending on desired strength.
Nitro Serving
Prepare nitro system
If using a whipped-cream-style dispenser: secure a cold brew-filled, chilled dispenser (fill to the fill line) and insert a nitrogen (N2) cartridge according to the device instructions. If using a nitro keg/tap system: chill the keg and connect a nitrogen regulator at ~30–40 psi (manufacturer guidelines vary). Ensure all equipment is clean and cold; cold liquid holds nitrogen better and creates a creamier head.
Charge and rest
Charge the whipped-cream dispenser with one nitrogen cartridge, shake the dispenser 6–8 times vigorously, then allow it to rest vertically in the fridge (or in an ice bath) for 1–2 minutes so the gas fully infuses. For a keg system, pressurize with N2 and let sit cold under pressure for at least 30 minutes before pouring.
Dispense
Pour nitro cold brew into a chilled glass using a downward angle, then level the glass to let the cascading effect form as you finish the pour (a creamy, thick head will develop). Serve without stirring to preserve the layered look. If using dispenser, hold it upside down and give one short burst; for taps, pull the tap all the way and stop when the glass is about 90% full, allowing the head to rise.
Dilute & sweeten (optional)
If you prepared concentrate and diluted it earlier, taste and add simple syrup (about 1–2 tbs per serving) to sweeten. For a nitro latte variation, add 1–2 tbs half-and-half or milk after pouring; the nitrogen will create a silky mouthfeel.
Serve
Serve immediately. Nitro cold brew is best consumed cold and fresh; the creamy head will dissipate after some time. Leftover nitro-charged beverage should remain under nitrogen pressure and refrigerated; if in a dispenser, release pressure and consume within 24–48 hours for best quality.
Garnish / Optional
If you like a sweet cream top, lightly pour half-and-half or cold foam over the nitro pour and let it settle — do not stir. For flavored variations, add syrups or flavored milk before charging (if in a dispenser) or after pouring (if on tap). Adjust sweetness to taste.
Equipment Handling & Safety
Always follow manufacturer instructions for nitrogen cartridges, dispensers, and kegs. Do not substitute CO2 for nitrogen — CO2 will produce a fizzy, carbonated mouthfeel instead of the desired creamy cascade. Keep vessels and gas canisters cold and inspect seals and fittings before pressurizing. Release pressure according to device instructions before opening.
