Method

Cocktail

  1. 1

    Prepare fruit

Roll the fresh orange on the counter under your palm to loosen the juices. Cut half an orange and set aside a thin wheel for garnish; reserve the other half for a small squeeze and optional twist.

  2. 2

    Build the drink

Fill a highball or large wine glass about three-quarters full with ice cubes (approximately 1 cup). Pour 1 oz Lyre's Classico over the ice, then add 1 oz Lyre's Italian Spritz.

  3. 3

    Add soda and adjust sweetness

Top with 2 oz chilled soda water, pouring gently to preserve carbonation. If you prefer a slightly sweeter mocktail, add 1/4 teaspoon simple syrup and stir gently three or four times to combine.

  4. 4

    Finish with orange

Squeeze the reserved half-orange lightly over the glass to express a touch of fresh juice and oils, then drop the spent half (or a few segments) into the drink if you like extra fruit flavor.

Garnish & Serve

  1. 5

Thread an orange wheel on the rim or float it on top. If using an orange twist, hold the twist over the drink and give it a quick twist to release oils, then drop it in or perch it on the rim.

  2. 6

Serve immediately with a straw or cocktail stirrer. Encourage the drinker to stir once before sipping to integrate the aromas and flavors.
