Method
Make the Dough
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
Mix the Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center, and pour in the activated yeast mixture and olive oil.
Knead the Dough
Mix until a dough forms. Transfer to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
Let it Rise
Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
Prepare the Pizza
Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If using a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat.
Shape the Dough
Once the dough has risen, punch it down and transfer it to a floured surface. Roll it out into a round shape to your desired thickness.
Add Sauce and Cheese
Transfer the rolled-out dough to a pizza peel or baking sheet. Spread the tomato sauce evenly over the surface, then sprinkle with mozzarella cheese.
Bake the Pizza
Transfer the pizza to the preheated oven (or onto the pizza stone) and bake for 12-15 minutes or until the crust is golden and the cheese is bubbling.
Top with Burrata
Remove the pizza from the oven and let it cool slightly. Tear the burrata and distribute it over the pizza along with fresh basil leaves.
Finish and Serve
Drizzle with additional olive oil, season with salt and black pepper to taste, slice, and serve immediately.
