1

Prepare glass

Select a chilled Old Fashioned (rocks) glass. If you prefer, place it in the freezer for 5–10 minutes beforehand to slightly chill.

2

Combine ingredients

In a mixing glass or stirring glass, add 2 oz Maker's Mark bourbon, 2 dashes Angostura bitters, and 0.25 oz simple syrup.

3

Stir with ice

Fill the mixing glass with large ice cubes. Stir gently for 20–30 seconds (about 15–20 full strokes) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Strain and serve

Place one large ice cube in the chilled Old Fashioned glass. Strain the stirred bourbon mixture over the ice.

5

Garnish

Express the oils from an orange peel over the drink by holding the peel skin-side down over the glass and giving it a firm squeeze. Rub the peel around the rim, then drop the peel into the glass as garnish.

6

Serve immediately. Enjoy responsibly.
