Cocktail

Optional: Light rinse / Aromatic rinse

Method

Cocktail

1

Chill glass

Place a rocks glass in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

Measure and combine

Add 2 oz Gentleman Jack, 1 oz sweet vermouth, 0.25 oz orange curaçao, and 2 dashes Angostura bitters into a mixing glass or shaker.

3

Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with ice (about 1 cup or enough to come near the top). Stir gently and steadily for 20–30 seconds (about 20–30 full revolutions) until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted.

4

Prepare glass

If you chilled the glass with ice water, dump the water and add a single large ice cube. If you kept it in the freezer, place 1 large ice cube into the chilled glass.

5

Optional aromatic rinse

If using an aromatic rinse, pour about 0.25 tsp peated whisky into the chilled serving glass, swirl to coat the inside, then pour out any excess so only a thin aroma layer remains.

6

Strain and garnish

Strain the stirred cocktail into the prepared rocks glass over the large ice cube. Express an orange twist over the drink by squeezing it skin-side down to release oils, rim the glass with the twist and drop it in as garnish.

7

Serve

Serve immediately. Sip slowly to appreciate the balance of the mellow Gentleman Jack, sweet vermouth, citrus notes from the orange liqueur, and bitters.
