Clean the Clams
Rinse the fresh clams under cold water to remove any sand or grit. Soak them in a bowl of water for about 30 minutes, then drain.

Prepare Garlic and Ginger
Peel and thinly slice the garlic cloves. Peel and grate the ginger.

Chop Green Onions
Finely chop the green onions, separating the white parts from the green tops.

Add Sake and Miso
Pour in the sake and water, bring to a gentle simmer. Whisk in the white miso paste until fully dissolved.

Cook the Clams
Add the cleaned clams to the pot. Cover and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the clams open up. Discard any clams that do not open.

Finish and Serve
Stir in the white parts of the green onions. Serve the clams in bowls with the broth, garnished with the green tops of the onions.
