Smoothie Base

Method

Prepare Ingredients

1

Prep fruit

If using fresh strawberries, hull and halve them. Peel and slice the banana. If using fresh pineapple, core and cut into chunks. Measure out frozen yogurt, cranberry juice, and almond milk. If your fruit is fresh rather than frozen, have 4 ice cubes ready to help chill and thicken the smoothie.

Blend Smoothie

2

Add the strawberries, banana slices, pineapple chunks, and vanilla frozen yogurt to the blender.

3

Pour in the cranberry juice and almond milk. If using honey or agave and/or lemon juice, add them now.

4

If you used fresh fruit, add the 4 ice cubes. If your fruit was frozen, omit the ice for a creamier texture.

5

Secure the blender lid and blend on high for 45–60 seconds, pausing to scrape down the sides once if needed, until the mixture is completely smooth and pourable. If the smoothie is too thick, add up to 2 tablespoons (30 ml) more almond milk and blend again; if too thin, add a few more frozen pineapple chunks or 1–2 tablespoons frozen yogurt and pulse to thicken.

Serve

6

Pour the Kalanaki Smoothie into a chilled 12–14 oz glass. Garnish with a strawberry slice or pineapple wedge and a mint leaf if desired.

7

Serve immediately with a straw.
