Cocktail base

Sparkle & aromatics

Method

Preparation

1

Chill glass

Place a coupe or Nick & Nora glass in the freezer or fill with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2

If using a lemon twist, prepare a thin long peel and, if desired, use a small star-shaped cutter to gently press a star out of the peel for the starry motif. Set aside.

Mixing the cocktail

3

Add gin, elderflower liqueur, fresh lemon juice, simple syrup and orange bitters to a cocktail shaker.

4

Fill the shaker with ice, cap it, and shake vigorously for 10–12 seconds until well-chilled (shake until the outside of the shaker feels very cold).

5

Discard ice or water from the chilled glass and double-strain the shaken mixture into the chilled glass to remove small ice chips.

Finish & garnish

6

Top the cocktail gently with the chilled sparkling wine (pour slowly along the inside of the glass to preserve effervescence).

7

Using a small spoon, gently float tiny flakes of edible gold leaf on the surface to resemble stars (optional).

8

Twist the lemon peel over the drink to express oils, run it around the rim, and place the twist on the edge or float the star-shaped peel on the surface as garnish.

9

Serve immediately while sparkling and aromatic.
