Method
Cocktail
Prep strawberry syrup (if not using store-bought)
If you don't have strawberry syrup ready, make a quick one: combine 1/2 cup hulled chopped strawberries, 1/2 cup sugar and 1/4 cup water in a small saucepan. Cook over medium heat until sugar dissolves and strawberries soften, 5–7 minutes. Mash briefly, simmer 1 minute more, then strain through a fine mesh sieve. Cool before using. This yields about 6–8 oz; refrigerate leftovers.
Add vodka, cranberry juice, fresh pineapple juice, strawberry syrup, fresh lime juice, simple syrup, orange liqueur and a dash of angostura bitters into a cocktail shaker filled with ice.
Shake vigorously for 12–15 seconds until the shaker is cold to the touch. This chills and slightly dilutes the drink for balance.
If serving up (no ice in glass): double-strain the mixture into a chilled coupe or martini glass to remove tiny ice shards and any strawberry solids. If serving on the rocks: fill a rocks glass with crushed ice (about 1/2 cup) and strain the cocktail over the ice.
Garnish with a halved strawberry and a pineapple wedge on the rim; float a lime wheel on top or thread the strawberry and pineapple on a pick and rest across the glass. Serve immediately.
Optional: For a slightly fizzy variation, top with 1 oz club soda and give a gentle stir just before serving.
Garnish & Glass
If using a lime wheel, cut a 1/8" slit so it sits on the rim. Slice the strawberry in half lengthwise for a clean presentation. Cut a pineapple wedge about 1/2" thick with rind removed for easier skewering. Arrange garnish on the glass as desired.
