Smoothie Base

Method

Prep

1

Measure ingredients

Measure frozen vanilla yogurt, berries, and pineapple. If any fruit is fresh rather than frozen, measure the same amounts and plan to add 4 ice cubes in the Optional Enhancements section to achieve a cold, thick texture.

2

Thaw slightly if needed

If your frozen yogurt is rock-solid, let it sit at room temperature for 3–5 minutes to soften slightly so it blends smoothly.

Blend

3

Add ingredients to blender

Place frozen vanilla yogurt in the blender first (this helps the blades engage), then add cranberries, blackberries, blueberries, and pineapple chunks. Pour in 1/2 cup cold water or milk, add the optional 1 tablespoon maple syrup or honey if you want extra sweetness, and the 1/2 teaspoon lemon juice if using.

4

Add optional items

If using, add ice cubes (4) for thickness and 1 teaspoon chia or ground flaxseed for texture and nutrition.

5

Blend until smooth

Secure the lid and blend on high for 45–75 seconds, or until the mixture is smooth and uniform. Stop and scrape down the sides with a spatula once if needed, then blend an additional 10–15 seconds.

Adjust & Serve

6

Check consistency and flavor

If the smoothie is too thick, add 1–2 tablespoons more water or milk and pulse again. If it is too thin, add a few more tablespoons of frozen yogurt or a couple of ice cubes and blend to thicken. Taste and add up to 1 additional teaspoon of maple syrup or honey if more sweetness is desired.

7

Serve

Pour the Blair Storm Smoothie into two 12-ounce glasses (or one large glass). Optionally garnish with a few whole berries or a small pineapple wedge. Serve immediately.
