Preparation

Serve

1. Chill

Place the bottle of Los Monteros Cava in the refrigerator for at least 2–3 hours before serving, or chill in an ice bucket filled halfway with ice and water for 20–30 minutes until the temperature reaches about 45–50°F (7–10°C).

2. Prepare glassware

Use clean Champagne flutes or narrow wine glasses. If desired, pre-chill glasses in the refrigerator for 10–15 minutes or rinse with cold water and drain to keep the bubbles lively.

3. Open the bottle safely

While holding the bottle at a 45° angle and pointing away from people and fragile items, remove the foil and loosen the wire cage (keep a thumb over the cork). Hold the cork firmly and twist the bottle (not the cork) slowly to ease the cork out with a quiet pop. Wipe the bottle lip with a clean napkin.

4. Pour

Pour the cava slowly into each flute, tilting the glass slightly and filling to about two-thirds to preserve the bubbles and aroma. Pour in a gentle stream to minimize foam and spillage. For four servings, pour approximately 4–5 ounces (120–150 ml) per flute depending on glass size.

5. Garnish (optional)

If using a citrus twist, express the oils over each glass by holding the twist over the rim and giving it a quick squeeze, then drop it into the glass. Alternatively, add 1–2 fresh berries to each flute for a festive touch.

6. Serve and enjoy

Serve immediately while the wine is cold and effervescent. Encourage guests to sip and enjoy the aroma and fine bubbles. If any remains, recork loosely or use a Champagne stopper and refrigerate; consume within 1–2 days for best quality.
