Method

Gin

1

Measure gin

Measure 2 oz of London dry gin into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker. If you own a bottle of Boodles and wish to use it, substitute 2 oz of Boodles for the measured gin.

Citrus & Garnish

2

Add lemon juice

Add 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice to the mixing glass.

3

Prepare lemon twist

Use a vegetable peeler or a sharp knife to cut a 1-inch wide lemon twist. Express the oils over the finished drink by holding the twist over the glass and giving it a firm squeeze or twist, then drop it into the cocktail as a garnish.

Sweetener (optional)

4

Add simple syrup if desired

If you prefer a slightly softer balance, add 0.25 tsp simple syrup to the mixing glass. This is optional and often unnecessary with well-balanced gin.

Ice

5

Shake and chill

Fill the mixing glass or shaker with ice (about 1 cup). Cap the shaker and shake vigorously for 10–15 seconds until well chilled (the shaker should frost).

6

Strain and serve

Double-strain (or fine-strain) the cocktail into a chilled coupe or martini glass to remove small ice shards. Express the lemon twist oils over the drink and drop the twist into the glass as garnish.
