Gin Base

Aromatic & Finish

Method

Prep Glass

1

Rinse

Pour the absinthe into a chilled coupe or Nick & Nora glass, swirl to coat the interior, then discard any excess (or pour back into the bottle). Set the prepared glass aside.

Mix Cocktail

2

Fill a mixing glass with large ice cubes. Add 2 oz London dry gin, 0.5 oz dry vermouth, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz elderflower liqueur, 0.25 oz simple syrup and 2 dashes orange bitters.

3

Stir the mixture briskly for 20–30 seconds until well chilled and properly diluted (about 15–20 rotations). Use firm, smooth strokes to maintain clarity.

4

Strain the chilled mixture through a fine-mesh strainer into the absinthe-rinsed chilled coupe. If you prefer a slightly longer drink, top gently with 1 oz club soda after pouring and give a single gentle stir.

Garnish & Serve

5

Express the oils from a lemon twist over the drink by holding the twist over the glass and giving it a quick pinch so the oils spray over the surface. Run the twist around the rim and drop it into the drink as garnish.

6

Serve immediately while cold. The Baron D balances floral elderflower, bright lemon, and classic gin botanicals with a subtle aniseed note from the absinthe rinse.
