Prepare the Batter

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the cornmeal, all-purpose flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar until well combined.

Combine Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until smooth.

Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Avoid over-mixing.

Add Cheese and Jalapeños

Fold in the aged cheddar cheese and diced jalapeños until evenly distributed.

Bake the Cornbread

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9-inch square baking pan.

Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
