Prepare the Bread
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Cut the stale bread into cubes and place them in a large mixing bowl.
Mix the Custard
In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, cream, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
Combine Bread and Custard
Pour the custard mixture over the cubed bread. Gently fold the bread until it is evenly coated. Let it soak for about 15 minutes.
Prepare the Baking Dish
Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish with the unsalted butter. Pour the soaked bread mixture into the prepared dish.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serve
Remove from the oven and let it cool slightly before serving hot. Serve it warm with a scoop of your favorite ice cream on top.
