Mushrooms

Marsala Cream Sauce

Method

Roasting the Mushrooms

1

Prepare the Mushrooms

Preheat your oven to 200°C (400°F). Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and remove the stems if necessary. Slice larger mushrooms in half.

2

Season and Roast

In a large bowl, toss the mushrooms with olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Spread them out evenly on a baking sheet and roast for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown and tender.

Making the Marsala Cream Sauce

3

Sauté the Shallots

In a saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Add finely chopped shallots and sauté until they are translucent.

4

Add Wine and Cream

Deglaze the pan with Marsala wine, scraping up any browned bits. Let it simmer for 3-4 minutes, then stir in the heavy cream, fresh thyme, salt, and black pepper. Cook until the sauce thickens slightly.

Preparing the Puff Pastry

5

Prepare the Puff Pastry

Roll out the puff pastry sheets on a lightly floured surface. Cut them into squares or circles as desired.

6

Egg Wash

Beat the egg and brush it over the pastry for a golden finish. Place the pastry on a baking sheet.

Final Assembly

7

Combine and Serve

Fill each pastry with the roasted mushrooms and drizzle with the Marsala cream sauce. Bake the pastries according to package instructions until golden brown and flaky. Serve warm.
