Ingredients

Amaro Nino Cocktail

Preparation

Amaro Nino Cocktail

1. Chill glass

Place an Old Fashioned glass (or rocks glass) in the freezer or fill it with ice water to chill while you prepare the cocktail.

2. Measure and add ingredients

Add 2 oz Italian amaro, 0.75 oz blended dark rum, 0.5 oz fresh lemon juice, 0.25 oz simple syrup, 0.5 oz sweet vermouth, and 2 dashes orange bitters into a mixing glass or cocktail shaker.

3. Add ice and stir

Fill the mixing glass with plenty of ice (enough to chill and dilute) and stir gently for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is well chilled and slightly diluted. If you prefer a slightly more aerated finish, you may briefly shake (6–8 seconds) instead, but stirring preserves clarity.

4. Prepare serving glass

Discard the ice or water from the chilled serving glass. Add a large clear ice cube or fresh ice to the glass.

5. Strain and garnish

Strain the chilled cocktail into the prepared glass over the large ice cube. Express an orange twist over the drink (pinch the peel skin-side down to release oils), run the twist around the rim, then drop it into the glass as garnish.

6. Serve

Serve immediately. The Amaro Nino is a balanced, slightly bitter, citrus-accented sipper best enjoyed slowly.
